AMQP 1.0 is now an OASIS standard

Members of the independent Organisation for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) have approved version 1.0 of the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) as a standard. The Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) is an open standard application layer protocol for message-oriented middleware. Contributors to the standardisation process include the Bank of America, Deutsche Börse, Goldman Sachs, Huawei, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, Progress Software, Red Hat, Software AG and VMware.
